2-2-2 Extra Alarm Fire:
Rochester Firefighters responded for a house fire this morning on Chili Ave. Midi 5 was on location with a house fully involved. Command reported a well involved 2 1/2. Engine 13 responded as the Extra Quint, Engine 5 was special called to assist and the 2-2-2 companies were Engine 12 and Quint & Midi 2. Dispatch. (Updated November 24, 8:30 AM)


"Eastman Kodak Co.'s fire department at Kodak Park, with backup from the Rochester Fire Department, put out a flash fire this morning at the site of one of the recently demolished buildings at Kodak Park.

The fire happened about 9:45 a.m. at the site of Building 20, caused by residual solvent in a line there, said Kodak spokesman Christopher Veronda." -

2-2-2 Extra Alarm Fire:
"Several floors of an apartment building were evacuated after a fire in a high rise Monday afternoon. It happened at the Keeler Park apartments on Hudson Avenue.
Authorities say the fire was contained to the kitchen of an 8th floor apartment. No one was hurt." -

2-2-2 Extra Alarm Fire:

"A two-alarm apartment fire caused by an unattended candle in a bedroom displaced 12 adults and one child about 12:40 this morning on Driving Park Avenue in the city.

Deputy Chief Scotty Williams said when firefighters arrived on the scene, they found heavy fire in apartment No. 5 on the second floor of the building at 294 Driving Park Ave. Williams said that a few people in the building needed assistance to leave the structure, but that there were no injuries to residents or firefighters." - D & C Article, Photo 1, Photo 2, and Video


***River Rescue***
Quint / Midi 2 and Engine 10 responded along with Rescue 11 Quint / Midi 6 with the boat, for three individuals stuck on the rocks by the Driving Park Bridge. Firefighters used a boat and rescue swimmers to assist the patients. Photos. (Updated September 19, 7:15 AM)

New Fire Chief
Mayor Bob Duffy has named John Caufield to take over as Rochester's new fire chief.Caufield has served as executive deputy chief and is a veteran of over 20 years at the fire department.

Caufield's brother is a firefighter and his father was a 33-year veteran of the department.Fire Chief Caufield named Salvatore Mitrano III as the new executive deputy chief. Mitrano is a 20 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department.

Rochester Firefighters responded for a fire late last night on Sherman St. Engine 5 was on location with flames from a 1 1/2. Engine 10 responded as the Extra Unit and the fire was under control in about 10 min.

Rochester Fire Chief to Leave:
Rochester Fire Chief Floyd Madison was appointed today by Gov. Eliot Spitzer to serve as the New York state fire administrator, heading the state 's Office for Fire Prevention and Control. Madison, 60, has served as chief of the Rochester Fire Department since 1999.

Battalion 1 reported a working fire and special called Engine 17 due to an exposure problem. Rochester Firefighters responded for a fire this evening on Lake Ave. Quint 1 was on location with heavy smoke from a two story town house. Engine 16 responded as the Extra Unit and the fire was under control in about 25 min.

Rochester Firefighters responded for a warehouse fire this afternoon on Hollenbeck St. Command called four alarm's and stated he had three buildings involved.
