04/29/11  Engine 5, Truck 10, Engine 13, Engine 17(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 2, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to 19 Fulton Av for a reported house fire. Engine 5 was on location with smoke showing. Battalion 2 declared a working fire & requested an extra truck company, bringing Truck 2. The fire was under control in 32 minutes. 04/27/11  Engine 10 responded to 70 Lakeview Park for a reported vehicle fire. They were on location confirming a truck fire, and it was under control in about 10 minutes. Fire Investigation also responded at Engine 10's request.

 

 

 

 

04/27/11  Engine 16, Truck 2, Engine 10, Truck 10(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 3, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to 1264 North Clinton Av for a reported structure fire. Engine 16 was on location with smoke showing from a 2 story commercial structure, and further reported a fire on the second floor. The fire was under control in 20 minutes, and both Engine 5 and Quint 6 covered EMS calls in Engine 10 and Truck 2's districts during this incident. For photos, click here.

 

 

 

 

04/26/11  At the same time as the 2 incidents listed below, Quint 6 and Midi 6, Engine 16, Engine 17, Engine 10(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Battalion 1, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to 75 Weyl St for a reported house fire. Engine 16 was on location with nothing showing from a 1 1/2 story dwelling, and further reported a kitchen fire. The fire was under control in 11 minutes. Rescue 11 and The Deputy Chief responded from the Potomac St fire, and the Protectives responded from the Genesee St fire.

 

 

 

 

04/26/11  Engine 3, Truck 2, Engine 5, Engine 12(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 3 and The Deputy Chief responded to 27 Potomac St for a report of flames from the window. Engine 3 was on location with smoke from a 1 1/2 story dwelling and declared a working fire. The fire was under control in 13 minutes. Rescue 11, Car 99 and The Deputy Chief all responded from the scene of another fire on Genesee St.

 

 

 

 

04/26/11  Truck 2 filled in at the Broad and Allen firehouse, and Engine 12 filled in at the Andrews St firehouse, while those companies worked a fire on Genesee St. That fire was under control in 29 minutes.

04/15/11  Engine 5, Engine 13, Truck 10, Engine 3(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 2, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to a radio alarm from a passing police officer for a structure fire at 487 Lyell Av. Engine 5 was on location confirming a working fire in a large 2 1/2 story multifamily dwelling. Battalion 2 requested an extra truck company, bringing Truck 5 to the scene. Command then asked for a second alarm, with Engine 17 and Quint 7 and Midi 7 responding. Engine 10 and Engine 12 were special called to the scene. 04/14/11  Truck 2 filled in at Engine 13 and Truck 10's quarters, while they worked a fire on Orange St. For info on that fire, click here.

 

 

 

04/14/11  The Rochester Fire Department held it's annual awards dinner this evening. Members of Dewey and Ridgeway were honored for their actions during 2010. They include Lt. J. McGee II and FF. D. Platt (Engine 10, Group 1) for EMS Lifesaving, and Lt. T. Stott (Engine 10, Group 2) for Class 1 Service award. Congratulations to these members, and to all the members of the R.F.D. receiving awards.

 

 

 

04/14/11  Engine 5, Engine 3, Truck 2, Engine 10(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 2, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to 139 Isabelle St for a reported stove fire. Engine 5 was on location with light smoke showing, then declared a working fire. The fire was under control in 24 minutes.

 

 

 

04/06/11  The members of Dewey and Ridgeway would like to wish Lt. T. Kuppinger, FF. A. Rodriguez, FF. A. Curtin and FF. R. Nicoletta good luck in their new assignments. Thank you for your service, and you will be missed.

 

 

 

 

04/03/11  Engine 10, Truck 2, Engine 5, Quint 6 and Midi 6(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99 and Battalion 2 responded to 41 Pierpont St for a reported stove fire. Engine 5 was on location with nothing showing and would be investigating. Battalion 2 reported the fire out, but with minor structural damage. Companies remained on scene for about an hour for ventilation and overhaul.

 

 

 

04/02/11  Engine 16, Quint 6 and Midi 6, Engine 17, Quint 7 and Midi 7(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 1, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded for a radio alarm from a passing police officer for a house fire at 85 Kosciusko St. While en route, the assignment was informed of the possibility of someone trapped. Battalion 1 was on location with a working house fire. Command requested an extra company to assume R.I.C. duties from Quint 7 and Midi 7, bringing Engine 10 to the scene. An exterior attack was ordered and Command also requested RG&E for live wires down at the rear of the structure. No one was trapped, and the fire was under control in 35 minutes.
