10/16/11  We would like to thank everyone that visited us at our annual open house yesterday. Even though the weather was a bit wet and windy, a good time was had by all. For photos, please click here.

10/12/11  The members of Dewey and Ridgeway would like to honor Virginia Sawdey, and pass along our thoughts and prayers to her family. Virginia passed away last Thursday (October 6th), and her loss will be felt by all, especially in the Maplewood and Edgerton neighborhoods. Her efforts to better the community were heroic and we consider Virginia part of our Dewey and Ridgeway family. She was a genuine pillar of the community and was instrumental in helping reduce violence as a member of both "PAC-TAC" and "NIMROD." For more info about Virginia and her efforts, please click here, and here.

There will be a service for Virginia at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Friday the 14th of October at 10am.

10/11/11  **Dewey and Ridgeway Open House!!** We are holding an open house on Saturday October 15th, from 10am to 2pm. All are welcome and there will be fire safety events, firehouse tours, demonstrations & food. We look forward to seeing you here!

We would like to remind everyone to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to be sure they work properly and please NEVER disable them. This is also a good time to be practicing "EDITH" (or Exit Drills In The Home) & discussing fire safety in general with your family. Also, we wish to remind everyone to call 911 immediately if you have a fire. DO NOT try to put it out yourself. Delaying a call to 911 can result in extensive damage to property and increases the chance of serious injury or worse. Even if you just see or smell smoke, get out & call 911.

10/11/11  Engine 16, Quint 6 and Midi 6, Truck 2, Engine 10(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99 and Battalion 1 responded to 64 Rexford St for a possible electrical fire. Engine 16 was on location with nothing showing from a single story wood frame dwelling, then further reported a small fire in the bathroom. Battalion 1 requested a restricted alarm and handled with the first in assignment. The fire was under control in 12 minutes.

Car 99 was on location with RPD and an ambulance, and more info to follow. Car 99 confirmed a person down on the rocks and Battalion 2 assumed command, requesting Truck 2 also respond. Command further reported that RPD and the Monroe County Medical Examiner would be handling. For audio, click here.
