01/23/11  Engine 16, Quint 6 and Midi 6 and Battalion 1 responded to 275 Clifford Av for a report of an odor of something burning in the basement. Quint 6 was on location with a burning odor outside the structure. After investigating the area, they discovered a house fire at 84 Evergreen St. The rest of the assignment was requested, and Battalion 1 declared a working fire. Engine 17, Truck 10(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, The Deputy Chief and Protectives then responded. A "mayday" was called when a firefighter fell through a floor and a second alarm was requested, bringing Truck 2, Engine 13 and Engine 5. An exterior attack was ordered due to the unsafe conditions inside the structure. The fire took about 3 1/2 hours to control and 3 firefighters suffered minor injuries. The temperature during this fire was 8 degrees below 0, with wind chills around 20 degrees below 0. This prompted command to rotate several companies through the scene as relief crews through the night. A Regional Transit Service bus was also requested to aid in rehab for the crews on scene. 01/22/11  Engine 10, Engine 16, Rescue 11, Car 99 and Battalion 1 responded to Route 104 eastbound, between Hudson Av and Carter St, for a MVA with a vehicle rolled over. Engine 10 was on location with a car in the median on it's side and a person trapped. Extrication was accomplished in about 15 minutes and RG&E was called to take care of a pole down.

 

01/21/11  Engine 16, Engine 17, Quint 7 and Midi 7, Engine 10(R.I.C.), Truck 2, Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 1, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to 931 Hudson Av for a reported house fire. Engine 16 was on location with smoke showing from the second floor of a 2 1/2 story duplex. Battalion 1 declared a working fire, and it was under control in 18 minutes. For audio, click here.

 

 

01/20/11  Quint 7 and Midi 7, Engine 12, Truck 4, Engine 17(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 3, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to 88 Sidney St for a reported house fire with possibly someone trapped. Engine 12 was on location with heavy flames from the second floor of a 2 1/2 story dwelling. Engine 1 responded as an extra unit. Truck 2 and Engine 3 filled in at Quint 7 and Midi 7's quarters on North Goodman St, then responded to the scene as relief crews to assist with overhaul. 01/18/11  Quint 6 and Midi 6, Engine 16, Truck 2, Engine 10(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99, Battalion 1, The Deputy Chief and Protectives responded to 26 Borchard St for possible basement fire. Quint 6 was on location with heavy smoke from the chimney and rear of the house. Battalion 1 declared a working basement fire. Engine 17 responded as an extra company and the fire was under control in 27 minutes.

 

01/18/11  Truck 2 responded to 15 East Ridge Rd for a reported car fire. While en route, the assignment was upgraded with a report the fire was near a garage. Engine 10, Engine 16, Truck 10(R.I.C.), Rescue 11, Car 99 and Battalion 1 then responded. Truck 2 was on location with a car fire against a garage. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

 

 

01/15/11  Engine 10 and Truck 2 filled in at Engine 13 and Truck 10's quarters at Broad and Allen streets for about 1 1/2 hours, after they responded to a working fire at 456 Genesee St. For audio of that fire, clickhere.

 

 

 

01/12/11  Truck 2 filled in at Quint 6 and Midi 6's quarters on North Clinton Av for approximately 2 3/4 hours while there was a 2 alarm fire on North Clinton Av at Kappal Place. For photos and video of the fire, click here.

 

 

 

 

01/03/11  Engine 10, Truck 2, Engine 5, Quint 6 and Midi 6, Rescue 11, Car 99 and Battalion 2 responded to 231 Seyle Terrace for a reported stove fire. Truck 2 was on location with nothing showing and people meeting them in front of the structure. Engine 5 further reported a fire on the stove. Engine 10 assumed command until Battalion 2's arrival and the fire was under control in 6 minutes.
